If im a rookie straight out of school and get my own truck, can I go local???

    Not all local freight is containers. There are tanks and flats. Going right into tanks may not be the best but flats are.

    Chinatown.....what is your opinion of KLLM?..if you were doing a lease program with a company who would you go with?...moving to IN..want to lease a truck...would like a dedicated route....you are so informative...just want to make the right move...Thanks

    If you are bound and determined to lease a truck, you should seriously consider leading from a third party, not the carrier. Very very few of those lease purchase plans amount to anything but a scam to lower pay roll.

    Thanks Spyder....been doing research and not liking the lease options...now, having to find a good company to go with. was doing flatbed for Roehl...moving to the midwest...

    Honestly, I think you'd be much better off with a good company driver position while saving to buy a truck the old fashion way, but if you aren't willing to put in that much time, look into lone mountain. They are probably the least painful of the bunch. You will probably need about five grand down and another five or so to prove you can fix the truck if it breaks. Remember, down payments are not just to limit the risk for the finance company, a sizable down payment also shows money management skills. A person capable of saving money is much less likely to get a truck/house/car/whatever repo'd than a person that has to spend everything they make. Some folks just can't save money, and very very rarely is it ever an income problem, it's a spending problem.
