I don't think cops have a say whether Walmart has trucks on their lot or not. Unless there is a specific ordinance that restricts truck parking after so many hours, but I highly doubt it. The manager is probably using the cops as an excuse.

Many Walmarts have signs up about local ordinances on the parking. Many have been asked to move.

I was at one in Phoenix and 3 in California that told me to move. Manager said they had no problem, but the local ordinance prohibited it.

Personally, could you blame them for banning trucks? Truck Drivers are not the most um... 'considerate' of people sometimes. I think you'll find most of thise oversized spaces are for RV's and not trucks...

It was the comment, "one discourages it because the cops don't want trucks parked there" that made me comment. Just because the cops discourage it doesn't mean you can't do it.

By City ordinance, the Wal-Mart in Castle Rock, Co. only allows truck parking for 2 hrs, they cops will tow without warning and there isn't a #### thing the store can do about it. The same with the Wal-Mart on I-25 and 144th in Westminster, Co., has nothing to do with City Ordinance in that case, the cops don't want them parked and by god, they will order you moved or they will tow you, and Wal-Mart can't help you.

Well as a former LEO I would definitely test the waters on the second scenerio. Sounds like a good lawsuit. The LEO has to have some law behind him to order you to do something. You are right if there is an ordinance there is nothing the store can do. If no ordinance they can not make you move off of any private property other than city or state or federal property unless walmart wants them off. Just sayin, from experience.

There are a large number of Wal-Marts that are curfew stores. No trucks can even be on their property after curfew and before end of curfew. I know, we deliver to them. And yes you can be towed and ticketed.

I'm going to assume that this is a serious question and not a joke pertaining to the state of our country. The area in each city that is zoned industrial and generally has wholesale, warehousing, light industrial to heavy industry located there. heavy trucks are in there all hours of the day and night and generally (but not always) the police don't bother any truckers unless the lizards :biggrin_25515: are working that area or some azzhole is leaving pee bombs :biggrin_25513: on the curb.

Exactly it's not about the store but more about the area they are located in....ie....apartments/condo's/ residential area's behind them.
