Whats interesting is usually the rest of the world is catching up to the US when it comes to technology, were as when it comes to things like, making talking on mobile phones illegal, on board cameras, elogs, and speed limiters they seem to well behind the rest of the world. In Australia we've been using speed limiters on trucks for over 30 years now however for a speed limiter to be introduced it would have to be done at a federal level due to the different posted speeds at the state level, so all trucks are limited to 100 km per hour under federal law or about 62 miles per hour. Unless you could get all states on board as you've got speeds as low as 55 in CA and as high as 85 in TX that could create quite a few complications.

we have had trucks and buses speed limited at 100 kmh (62 mph) for over 30 years, no biggie

Some companies are actually speed limited some of their trucks at 90 kmh (55 mph) and have done for years

Some road trains in the outback are speed limited to 90 kmh (55 mph), unless things have changed

Pretty much. We worked around speed limited fleet trucks forever. But those guys knew enough to stay out of the way and away from one another so the faster trucks could get around them. That changed a long time before they started talking about speed limiters for all. It won’t solve anything, it’s going to make existing problems worse.

I am hearing that cars coming to Australia out of Europe could be speed limited at about 120 kmh (75 mph) or 130 kmh (82 mph) in the future. I reckon our Government will mandate it.

Apparently Europe is moving to speed limit cars

I hope they don’t put in speed limiters. I drive slower anyway since it’s a 379 towing a box but I enjoy easy drives as everyone zooms by.

If they DO decide to make limiters a thing… maybe only apply one to a company if their safety score is below x

They mandate this garbage and I'm buying a horse and buggy. I'll travel like the Amish do. Get a job at McDonald's and take my horse to work. I'd rather pay to keep a horse alive than pay ridiculous taxes to keep a truck on the road.

Yeah I don't really have any intentions of going anywhere near the GTA. I'll stick to Lake of the Woods and west lol.
