House bill would hike mandated insurance minimum substantially

Legislation that would up the federally required insurance minimum for motor carriers nearly six-fold—from the current $750,000 to $4,442,000— is wending its way through Congress. Yet motor-carrier interests are not entirely aligned against the measure. Nicknamed the “Safe Haul Act,” the bill would also tie future insurance minimum requirements to the cost of medical care inflation. Introduced in the House by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA) as the ...

Now if this passes we won't have to worry about elogs or new regs, retirement on the way.

I'm just glad that clown isn't my direct rep. He should be glad as well. I have an annoying tendency to let my opinions known to my elected representatives.

It's not cheap at all. I carry 5 million liability and 1 million cargo on 15 trucks it's a significant amount of money for the premium. Downright staggering actually.

Wow! How does he get away with such a conflict of interest? If the media isn't aware of what you know you ought to drop a line to a few editors at the major rags and media affiliates.
