If Toyota made a semi truck, would you buy it? I was thinking about it today, that the current brands out today aren't known for their reliability: Volvo with electronic issues, Peterbilt with engine and coolant issues, Freightliner with DEF and sensor issues.
I'd love having an incredibly reliable brand, less downtime, and the peace of mind that comes with a Toyota.

They do, I believe Hino is part of Toyota. I read, they are wasting time with some hydrogen fuel cell zero emission crap on a rebadged KW, another band-aid on a heart attack, besides, it will never happen. Toyota isn't stupid, and has the passenger car and pickup truck market cornered, why blow it on something as foolish as a semi tractor? Besides, ALL trucks use the same guts today, one isn't any better than the last, all sharing the same issues.

Yep...Toyota! Nice trucks! I imagine they have no electrical/wiring/cooling/ACTUAL engine issues.

As hard as toyota had to fight the big 3 to get the tundra into the states i doubt they will try a semi

They were all forced to lie because the standards could not be met. Caterpillar is the only one that saw it coming and said no thanks!
Cummins just got nailed HARD too.

I would say if they are all in the same boat then Toyota STILL comes out on top! -
What about the Tesla semi? It not OTR yet and not sure if they will ever sell them for OTR plus we need charging locations. No emissions systems and no engines problems. They should be reliable truck just depends on how batteries hold up and work in the real world.

Whether it's the possible purchase price or battery replacement, crickets.

Toyota builds some of the best cars and light pickups out there in my opinion. I doubt they would bother trying to enter the heavy truck market in the US with there hands tied behind there back and produce another problemsome tractor. If they did i would seriously consider it if it somehow proved reliable. I remember a year or 2 back the CEO was urging caution against the whole EV trend as well as the ban of ICEs and vowing to always have them as an option. They're no dummies although it didn't go over well with the environmentalist
