If trucks don’t have APU, can you still run AC or heater on while in the truck?

While that is LIKELY correct, there are a fair chunk of people running a mini-split/generator combo nowadays who are all owner operators

Some trucking companies highly discourage idling the truck engine for comfort. I would only work at a trucking company that understood driver comfort is vital for getting restful sleep. Poor sleep equals less safety while driving. APUs can cost over $10k ut they reduce fuel use when parked versus idling the truck engine. I think fuel burn of APU is about 10-20% of an idling truck engine. Buying an APU, or not, is a bet on whether the cost of buying, maintaining, fueling it is less than idling a truck engine and/or driver doing without as much resting/sleeping comfort costs.

I only worked where APUs were in use or idling the truck was allowed as much as I needed.
