They said in a recent meeting the self checkouts are going to be cut back, and live cashiers coming back.
Lot of folks still do. I for one thank you because the more folks buy the more we haul.
The issue is trying to be all things to all people.
Some folks want a store with everything, some love the grocery price but abhor crowds so we have the Neighborhood Markets. My wife is chomping at the bit to get grocery pick up here so she can just pick her stuff up. I like being able to see something in a store in Clio, Mi and ordering it to be at my store that would normally not stock that item on my weekends. Other things like a bike rack for the camper I just order online because it is easier.
Sometimes I like to just wander around our local store and bs with folks in town. I have noticed in those pick up tower lounges are becoming community gathering points. I have long said they need to have a breakfast cafe at the stores. I think it would be a huge draw in the south and midwest.
If Walmart wants to compete with Amazon...
