there is a difference in Canadian French and France French.
we have dear friends that are France-French, and i can assure you, they treat thier kids the same way, maybe they don't tell thier kids to "get a job or die", but they certainly do push them out of the house at legal age. they did all they could for the fist 18 years of thier lives, plus colleges as well...
our cross the street neighbors ARE FROM Portugal, same treatment...get out of the house....
i had a bold hard talk with my 4 kids when they each turned 16..."after you graduate from college (or tech school) you cannot come back home, find a job, or die"...."i or your mom WILL NOT support you anymore"...
further, i deserved that apology from you for going off on me with your censored words....all i said was screw you, in a self defensive stance.....hardly curse words that needed to be censored....ey..????

As far as good paying local jobs to start out - well, that depends on your area. In the northeast you could start at my company tomorrow for $26.65 per hour. OT after 8 hours (not 40), 6 personals, 3 vacations (6 after 8 years) free health care for your entire immediate family (not just you) company paid pension, etc etc.
The problem is you’re gonna be driving in philly, Camden, Trenton, NY ETC, etc. and unload your own trailer. Multiple times per day and they’re not gonna hold your hand. For the majority of new guys they can’t handle the driving. Is it a chance worth taking for an inexperienced driver? I can’t answer that.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
I run reefer from the rockies to the mid west and back every week, home for at least 34 hrs every week, I decide when I go back out on the road... Not the company. Company wants to see 10k miles a month on average... I run more than that. I take home after taxes about $1000 to $1200 every week. So far this year I have run 100,766 miles. Which is an average of abouy 12.5k miles per month. High mile month is like 15k miles... Low mile month is 10k... Give or take. Been with my company for 2 years.

Is 35 cpm low absolutely... But its a hell of alot better than nothing at all. Go pay your dues and earn what little they will pay you, where ever you can get on at to get some experience under you belt. With the right company, running the right lanes you can make $1k a week on 35 cpm. Yeah you run your guts out, but that will prove to other companies, And yourself that you really have what it takes to do this job.
If You can run 3500 to 4000 miles a week, make your apointments on time, not get into any accidents, and not end up stuck on a ramp because your clock ran out, and continue this for an entire year... You will be worth a pile of money to almost any company out there. Because they will be able to see that not only do you really know hiw to do this job but you have good work ethic and a drive to stick with it.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
they each had small part time jobs while attending college/technical schools, and HAD to either decide which was more important...a roof over thier heads, or spring vacations.
when i told them they can do as they please making that decision, they were re-affirmed, that they will NOT be moving back home.
somehow, spring vacation get a-ways.....did not take over, earning money for that roof....
gotta teach them when young, otherwise, they will never leave, as they see "easy street" at your expense....FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
