It aint about how much money u make driver its about how much u dont spend. The guy making 800 a week but only spending 200 a week is keeping more than the guy making 1500 a week but spending 1200 . cut ur expenses to a minimum is the best way to start out in this job . because u aint gonna be making much as an otr driver u til u learn to manage that clock on the logbook which takes time to learn how to maximize ur time each day and keep it legal

    Pretty much.

We make good money, but that doesn’t mean go pick up a 1100 dollar car note.

Thats not just a truck driver problem though. That’s an America problem. Keeping up with the jones.

With how hot we had this summer I’m willing to be we’re due for some serious snowfall. Not always happens but I’ve noticed the hotter and more intense the summer the more brutal the winter.

So what you're saying is that your neighbors have their kids living with them, who may pay rent and contribute to their households, and that it might just work out pretty good for all parties involved? Sort of like my cousin living with and taking care of my elderly grandma?

It's almost like there's more than one way to live other than "Buddy's" view of the world.

Yeah, I said I wasn't going to stick my nose in this, but seeing as Buddy keeps going on about this, I will - I can guarantee that because of the way buddy raised his kids, "Get a job or die", that if his wife dies before him and Buddy gets sick and loses everything to healthcare in old age (which he will, in America), then after his lifetime savings go to Big Pharma, Buddy is going to get thrown into the cold and soulless nursing homes by his kids, who don't want their "ADULT parent" (Kind of an oxymoron there, isn't it?) living with them.

And it will be then, that Buddy will be able to "go out and strike it on his own" in that cold, cold nursing home all by himself.

    Lol spot on.

Dude is so dense and on his high horse.

Don’t knock other people’s situations. If it works for them then great. A 1 bedroom is 1k-1600 a month here. Not many 18 year olds can just move out. Especially when jobs pay what they do.

Here's the deal, go get your license from a local school, put in the time and shoe leather, and you very well may create your own luck.
Go to work for one of the companies that still have dock workers and drivers, then you can claim what ever you what on your next application, Most of what companies know is what you tell them, and frankly the training available at these driver mills aren't worth the time they take to get thru them.
Most of driving can be learned with common senses once you get your license, now I'am not discounting the experience with a good , experienced trainer, I just don't believe your odds of getting one is very good.
Go to companies like Waste Management, you can get a job as a laborer, and upgrade to a driver. They even pay half way decent. 6 months experience most companies will hire you and pay you the same as they would pay me after 30 years.
If you go to Schneider or SWIFT they fill you with the you need us garbage, you don't they need you and do not pay you want your worth. They like to dangle money in front of you like saying you can make X number of dollars, if you only get 12 miles per gallon, never go over 55, all that is what I call carrot's. Good Luck
Stick to your guns, pound the leather, diligence is usually rewarded.
