I am going to broadcast a letter and send it out to all the major news companies and newspapers as well as oida and a few other important agencies.....

I need some input from my fellow drivers out here on the road both company drivers as well as the owner ops.

Please post some of the concerns that you as a driver have or feel that needs to be addressed.
some of the issues that I am going to be putting into this letter are the increasing fees that we all have to pay.
the idleing issues that have been forced on us as if we are worse than animals..
the high cost of living out here to the poor pay scales....
Please lets stand together and please send me your input and issues.
I will copy the letter once it is completed and Post it in here for you all to read.
    thank you again,
    mcr6468

What I have been hearing is trying to do away with bluetooths or any hands free cell phones as well.

I'm not the best writer in the world but, can you put an issue on the mis leading that there's a high demand for truck drivers, but there's truck drivers on waiting lists for a truck. This was way back when I started back in May. Also as for entry level OTR driver making 35K and up 1st year i believe that is misleading as well.

No kidding. Last I heard it, there was a shortage of 150,000 drivers nationwide. What that really means is that the mega companies have a surpluss of 150,000 tractors. If those had butts in the seats, miles would drop from 1800 to 2000 now, down to under 1500, or even 1200.

pay for all time gone from home no caps
    Such as ....

    Berth pay $ 10/20 a nite

Detition starts at 2 hrs ( that's fair) but then they cap it at 50 a day etc not fair (free labor)

Set per hour pay ( each company)

    Break down pay ( hourly)

Layover pay ( hourly after 2 ) or set rate of 1/52 or 1/365 of your pay so if you average 200 A day driving u should get the same figure for baby sitting their equipment

    Shower reimbursement ( iffy)

Reset pay set rate to do a reset on the road loaded or mt if you are away from home such as. 75-100 lower rate due to DOT requirement but u are still working

Fuel pay 15 mins paid time to fuel you are performing a duty for the company

Inspection pay at scale actual time hourly

    Pay truck practial miles

Drop / hook pay. $ 5.00 for each or 15 min paid total time

Load / unload pay for arriving on time

    Safety bonus

    Health INS
    Cell allowance weekly mthly etc

    Before you say it ........

I know seems weird and no body pays it .... Wrong

Here are 2 I worked for 1 and starting next week with other

    1 walmart private fleet
    Berth $ 42.00 per night
    Drop 8.75
    Hook 6.50
    Hourly 14.00 after 45 mins
    43.75 off hub
Reset on clock ( seldom) if ever voluntary usually
    Showers reimbursed
Cleaning supplies also ( with recp)
    10 per discount at stores

I drove there 3/2004 to 7/2008 left for reason I could not transfer to Maine at a grocery DC so had to resign family roots where I am wld have been a 1800 mile move they needed drivers up there and I was one of the bottom 5 on the board forced to go no exceptions
Awesome place to work while it lasted
They also pay 15 mind to fuel away from a DC at a truck stop

    2 superior carriers ( tank)
    41.5 mileage loaded 36.0 mt
    10.00 drop / hook
    20.00 load / unload
    13.30 hourly pay
    Demurige after 2 no cap
    Layover on clock
    Berth 10.00 per nite
20.00 for wash out / or drop hook at trl wash
Paid long plus short term disp
    50 k life paid
    Profit sharing

    Start here next week

Don't settle for less there are still good ones out there I know I got a little off subject

Both run 100 percent legal and you can make at least 58/ 60 k and home weekly either company

    Stay safe

The questions before my spill are my concerns to make industry better

    Thanks

    How about safe working conditions?

IE The driver be provided with a comfortable means to get his 10 hours rest. Without having to pay the company for that requirement.

That shippers and receivers provide a safe parking area for drivers that run out of hours, sitting at their docks.

Legal penalties/fines for all companies who put erroneous information on a driver DAC report.

I hate to burst your bubble but the media isn't interested and probably won't publish anything related to your letter . Believe me , I know . I contacted several media sources with the true facts after they gave Road Safe America coverage but they never used the info . I've written letters to the editor of "The Trucker " disproving statements made by ATA and Steve Owings of Road Safe America but the letters were never published . The editors of "Overdrive " and "Truckers News" may use your info but they'll be preaching to the choir . There is a member here , Writer , that may take an interest . He wrote this article . http://www.usbusiness-review.com/content/view/1101/31/ . But as far as ABC , or CBS , or "The New York Times " , forget it .

maybe if more drivers sent in letters and information we would be better heard, just letting this happen and sitting by is the reason these companies get away with what they do. Its easier to take the punnishment than stand up to defend yourself...IMO.
