my husband is an owner op...I read here that owner ops since they are there own MC, they authorize whoever they want..how does he authorize me and our child to be with him in the truck? I read that Owner Ops just write on a piece of paper...but what would he write on this paper? And what info needs to be put on this paper?

Not sure on the authorization part. But make sure he checks with his insurance company to see if passengers are covered and what ages are allowed.

If he's an Independent he should talk to whoever his general liability is through. If he's leased on to a carrier and running under their authority he would have to speak to them or their insurance provider.

Does the truck have 3 seats with seatbelts? Going to be hard to be fully legal. That said I see kids in trucks all the time, sometimes 2 or 3 and Mom.

Most trucks do. Well 3 legal restraints anyway.
Front seat, passenger seat, and the bunk harness tucked under the mattress that should be used when one is in the bunk and truck is moving.
I will agree it almost never is though.
