the physical requirements ARE NOT BEING CIRCUMVENTED when they fall into the confines of the regulations set forth by the DOT....where do you see circumvention....?????? it's ALL PLAINLY IN THE DOT BOOK.......if the DOT meant that ALL DRIVERS HAVE 20/20 and nothing else...??? IT WOULD HAVE BEEN IN THE BOOK.....!!!

so also, what is YOUR POINT..??? he (or she) posted this same question months ago...??? so what....???

ever stop to think that many threads get started and fall by the wayside...??

ever stop to think that a person's working hours precludes one from being on the website...???

you made remarks (opinions) and they were well frankly cruel......you ARE NOT a driver, you DO NOT KNOW many facts, yet YOU went on to say that he (or she) find another career...?????

    now THAT was UNCALLED FOR......

opinions are like....well you know.....everyone has at least "one of 'em". and you went BEYOND that and told him (basically) he has no chance...???

like each passing day, your chances are better...at your ripe age of 55.....????? (hint-hint, you better think again)

Your points are taken.... and I have considered the implications of my age. I figured you'd realize that based on my prior response to your post.

Actually if you had read the OP's other thread and question, he clearly states he has "lazy eye"..... the condition certainly affects depth perception.

    Check out this site..... http://www.lazyeye.org/

Anyway, your point about my original post being to the point of harshness and as the OP stated "hurt"..... I'll apologize!

I'll still stand by my statements! He needs to seriously consider the implications of his vision problems! BTW, regards to the rest of you who've constructively chimed in!

I DO have a lazy eye...but its very mild.I DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH DEPTH PERCEPTION THOUGH. like i said in the other post, my eyes arent crossed or anything like that. My main problem is the astigmatism. My eye doc says i can see 20/30 with my glasses, i guess i should just stop worrying about it and leave it at that. Im guessing that the eye machine at the dmv just isnt as precise as the doc. when i could barely see the last line she told me to read i panicked and came straight here, haha. BELIVE ME, IF I COULD NOT SEE I WOULD NOT DRIVE A SEMI!!! my main question was, what would happen if i coudnt read what is required at the dmv...and someone aswered that for me(blue card).thanks for all the replies. i love this site, theres a wealth of knowledge on here between all the experienced drivers.

I commend you for you above posts... I also have a eye problem only with reading small print... nothing else.....glasses will not correct the problem. its a lazy eye... every time I renew my license I must get a dr's note & dmv always accepts it......however I start training March 4th & am very concerned they will not accept the letter because this time I'm applying for a cdl & starting school... I will be going to Indiana so I'm really unsure because I'm from upstate NY.. I also don't know what to expect from the dot physical.... any help would be greatly appreciated by anyone.... IE advice... facts... thank you in advance!!

My story.......Have 20/20 corrected in left eye,and 20/200 corrected in right eye (Amblyopia)According to FMCSA I do not qualify for a Interstate CDL due to monocular vision. I did get a Texas Intrastate CDL because I applied for a Vision waiver from Texas Dept. of Public Safety. After 3 years of driving experience,I can apply for a vision exemption from FMSCA ,and receive a Interstate CDL.

Save up and get lasik like me :) I used to have horrible vision without glasses. I got lasik and now have 10/10 vision seriously I can view every single chart the eye doctor throws at me. They don't even have anything smaller for me to see. Even when I am driving down the internet in the summer I can see ants walk across the interstate as I am driving 65mph.
