I'd be willing to bet that those tankers that you are calling doubles are not even close. Try to find me a fifth wheel. If you come up with two you have a very specialized set-up. But the majority are truck and traiters which is a huge difference.

There is a thread on the good company thread started by a guy named JohnBoy. He works for an outfit called Calex Express out of Pittston, Pa. and seem to be a good company to work for. They hire alot of guys in the east coast so it might be right up your alley.

I am in pretty much the same boat. Five years driving with all endorsements and PERFECT driving record, DAC, and background. My old company has been trying for years to get me back but when I called them they couldn't get me on their insurance because it's been over three years since I was OTR. I'm set up to go with ATS next Monday and I'm supposed to hear back from Tandem by tomorrow. There are companies that care that you have experience and a good record, not that it was within the last three years.

Check out the O/O board and see if you can hook-up with one of them to get re-freshed, earn a bit and satisfy the major carriers when you apply. I've read other posts where others have done this. Best of luck to you!
