i would change the 70 hr rule. it makes no sense now. they give 11/14 a day but if you add it up any more than 10 a day will mess you up in 7 days unless you take a short day then in 7 that messes you up. i think if they keep the 11/14 and get rid of the 70 drivers could make a good living and run legal.............

I see your point, however the drivers are not really running over their 70 hours but they are having the issue of making deliveries on time. I do like the theory if it would work, I will ask a few drivers at work to see how they would feel about that. That would be an easier solution anyhow!

I love the idea that Cerberus brings up. I realize you can have a 34 hour restart, but why should it be needed? If I am going to be out on the road, I want to be running. When I did drive, the 70 hour limit usually showed up to mess with me within 7-8 days of being out on the road, and I would spend the next couple weeks working on the brink of running out of hours and taking several crash courses in "creative writing" so I could avoid sitting a day at a truck stop wasting time and out of hours.

I would much rather run every day that I am out, and spend my sitting time at home.

(nothing worse that getting a load sent to you on the quallcom that is a great load, lots of miles, and you only have 10 hours over the next two days to run)

Ouch! 48 hours! I would prefer it to be 24 hours. Some of us out here are trying to make money!

Untill rather recently I was living in Griffin GA. Not too far from you too.

Good idea on the 70. I run hard when I'm out and relax hard when I'm not!! I'm usually at my 70 just a little over 5 days out.
