The three above posts was my advice... slow down, take your time & make sure you know whats going on around you. Its the truth out on the road but my point was geared more toward tight quarters, shipper, receivers etc.... especially when backing up. Take your time, go slow & make sure you know whats going on around you... take your time.

    All good advice... heed it.

Ha Ha some of these are good and funny... and that idea about marking places to park on a list and map is worth its weight in gold... :)
as for getting upset at ppl not a issues but telling them off in my vehicle is a fun hobby that makes me feel better
and as for lot lizards ... I am not male
and for the take pictures advise I will assume take pics of cargo before and after delivery
CA and it's insane rules will be on my never go list for many reasons such as no idling, LA road system, and I wont drive to NYC for the same reasons :p

I just want to add a question
How do you save money on food? What solutions for not eating or snaking in the truck stops? are there ideas you know?
I will be driving for Swift and they dont have APU's and the trucks are not allowed to idle from what I have read... what food is there or do I have to give it up and eat at the stops

Budgeting & nutrition... those are the two areas I wish I'd have counseled/taught myself better about as a younger driver.
I'd counsel all new drivers today to use the truck stops for fuel and showers only; invest in a microwave and a fridge and hit a grocery store once or twice a week to load up on healthy food.

Nutrition and microwave do NOT belong together.

Where did the term "newbie" come from? IMO it's "rookie". You don't hear the sports announcer say,"Number 17 John Doe is a newbie out of Texas A&M" you hear the announcer say,"Number 17 John Doe is a rookie out of Texas A&M".
