RM, THIS has always been my beef with law enforcement of any kind. If I am "accused" of doing something wrong, chances are, it costs me something, ie; lost time, money, wages, or a ticket or points somewhere that ultimately some time down the road, costs me even more money.

Whether it be in the form of increased insurance fees, or raising rates, raised taxes, or now with the advent of CSA, a possible loss of my lively hood AND everything I have worked for my whole life, not to mention, possible jail time.

All of this on the word of another human being that may or MAY NOT have as much integrity as I have. IF every time an officer, was held accountable for their actions, there would be a lot less bs going on.

Lets say a cop gives you a ticket, and you take it to court, YOU are footing the bill for everything, either directly or indirectly. Your taxes, as stated go toward a part of that officers pay, your tax money in some part, funds the court process, YOU have to take time from work THAT YOU ARE NOT COMPENSATED FOR, EVEN IF YOU WIN THE CASE!

YOU are to cover all of your legal fees, YOU have to cover your expense of being present, YOU may also wind up paying a fine, and on top of that additional court costs.

But on the other side of the fence, if your the cop, and you fail to prove your point, you still get paid, you probably used the "company car" to get to and from the courthouse, I'm sure the gas for that car was paid for with tax dollars, maybe lunch also, in some cases, you may even get overtime for appearing!

If you as the LEO, fail to prove your point, there is NO LOSS on your end, you are subsidized for everything, win or lose, and you are subsidized in part by the very person you are accusing!

Is this a great country or what? I guess it all depends on what side of the fence, err badge, you are on!

I wonder how the police would be on inspections and tickets IF THEY PERSONALLY, were responsible for their actions.

I have seen police get a DUI, and get suspended with PAY.

If they drive the highway and speed for no reason, we should be able to call and get a ticket for them.

If they weave in and out of traffic, we should be able to have them stopped for possible DUI or fatigue or reckless driving without proof, but our opinion.

We see a car with a missing light or turn signal not working, we should be able to stop them and put them out of service.

I no longer feel safety is the issue and have nothing but contempt for a police officer or scale anymore.

I have asked a few CHP officers but I never get a straight answer. If I (the trucking company) am at least partially responsible for accidents caused by my pilot cars, what can I do about CHP going wrong way (usually unnecessarily) and killing someone while escorting me? Its one of my biggest pet peavies, I am in charge of EVERY pilot car driver when they are escorting me! I have been known to pull over and verbally thrash an escort driver who does something unsafe, however I learned long ago that most CHP officers, while great at high speed driving and PIT maneuvers make terrible escort drivers. I also learned long ago that pulling over and wagging my finger in their faces is a BAD IDEA!

So the answer to your suggestion Roadmedic is sorry they answer to their Lieutenant but not the motoring public.

An Arizona DPS Sergeant named Ray Black would argue that he didnt get away with anything. He was demoted back to rookie status and lost all accrued pension and PTO after 20 years with DPS... Ruined his life.

In my experience which covers a LOT of years, and a LOT of miles, some of the BIGGEST traffic hazards are the officers themselves!

How many are on the hand held phone or computer weaving all over the road, how many times have you seen them pull someone over on a road with NO shoulders putting EVERYONE in harms way.

How many times has a LEO come flying across the median into MY lane of traffic only to realize that the grass was wet and almost take out BOTH lanes of traffic?

How many times have you seen them speeding, WELL over the limit, only to find them parked at the doughnut shop up the road?

How many times have you seen them work an area of traffic that was flowing just fine at 3-5 mph over the limit with no problems, but they show up and half of the people are now UNDER the speed limit by 10 mph making a perfect scenario for a pileup, is it REALLY all about safety?

    It happens ALL too often.

    One of how many.

Look at what this guy did and still received his pay and may not spend a day in jail.

Shows the obvious difference in a corrupt police state like Illinois and Arizona where we demand our government answer to the people. Of course that Illionois cop can text while driving 126 MPH... He can do whatever he wants, he's a cop, they are above the law. In Arizona we like to hold them to a higher level of obeying the law if they are enforcing it.

What a laugh. They are driving well over the legal speed limit.

I have seen yours texting as well.

I can find the ones we have success with as well. But, I showed that there are others that get away as well.

I am not bashing any state. I can find the same in others.
