If I am not mistaken the same thing happen in Okla. some time back, cop came across the median, car got airborne and literally took the roof off another car killing it's occupants, he had also taken the family of the deceased to court for his "pain and suffering", pretty screwed up situation.
If you go to DOT for an inspection.....

the worst is when they go to pull someone over, they cut in front of you, and put on the brakes and lights and everyone around them hits the brakes, all for a "speeding ticket"
i wonder how dangerous was that speeder compared to the danger the cop put everyone else in?Roadmedic and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
I didnt say Arizona DPS does not break the law. My point is that unlike Illinois who protects them, Arizona punishes them severely. Many people in Illinois have a police state mentality that encourages its citizens to not question their actions or to look the other way when law enforcement does wrong. Arizona residents tend to question and scrutinize law enforcement more than we do civilians.
Im not trying to imply that Arizona law enforcement officers are less corruptible or that Illinois LEO's are less reputable, I am however implying that the citizens of those states deal with them in completely opposing ways. -
So, we have people here as well that do not shut their eyes.
I was only referring to the double standard that is everywhere on the road. -

once this thread shifted from the original intent, to LEO's are hypocrites it became political.
-
It became a realistic view. -
by virtue of your position in the trucking industry, you see truck drivers not too different than the way a cop sees a driver
they give the citations, you admonish the driver for getting the citation, hence you are almost an extension of the law onto the driver, for the company
not saying there is anything wrong, just the way it is
we see law enforcement, not as an agent for safety, but more as a source of revenue for the related municipality, using safety as an excuse
so when we see a cop driving down the road, talking on his cell phone, texting or playing with his laptop, yet if we do it, we get a $2750 fine, we realize that the "safety aspect" is bogus
when we see a cop tailgating, cutting us off, pulling people off onto the shoulder, we realize the "safety aspect" is a catchall to punish drivers
add to that the CSA debacle and you wind up getting "us against the world" attitude
so though this thread started off as an innocent question of a driver possibly seeking to have a DOT inspection, it will naturally evolve into a DOT/political discussion because its all relatedKANSAS TRANSIT Thanks this. -
However I think that pointing out the hypocrisy of LEO's doesn't prove anything. I could just go on and on about how truckers do unsafe things, or go on and on about how four wheelers do unsafe things. It serves no purpose to cast everyone in the same mold. It's very difficult to judge peoples intentions and motives when you don't get the full story.
