I've really been educated about putting a poll out there. I simply did not think about the ramifications of adding a late entry. Schneider won't really get a fair shake because some of the early voters might have voted for them if they (Schneider) had been on the original list. I'm not sure how to fix this. Maybe the Mods will see the problem and offer assistance. I don't know but I'd sure like to see this thing through. I firmly believe that the ONLY justifiable evaluation of carriers has to come from truckers. Hmmm, we'll see what happens!

While we're talking about the whole "adding new companies to the list", after what i've read on this forum about covenant, i think they would have been a good choice to add to the list.

"Fleece" is often used in place of the "Lease" as most if not all lease purchase plans are not in the best interest of the driver.

I misread the poll i thought it was asking what is the very last company you would ever work for if you only had those five to chose from. So needless to say i voted wrong, so take one away from Swift.

So far 92 members have participated in the poll.
Roehl is still way out front.
Average years of experience of participants: 8 years, 3 months.

Dont know about the others, but I would highly reccomend Roehl,as I drove for them ,and they were pretty darn good to drive for. I also drove for Swift for a short time and I would not reccomend them to anybody.I realize that some drivers seem to like Swift, and I say that I am happy for them.

Seem to like being key, I think. For me it's only just preferable to starving. I'd rather buy my own truck than work for a big company again at this point.

I started a poll a couple of days ago. It began with the thread entitled "If you had no other choices, which of these 5 (now 6) companies would you choose to work for?" The intent of the poll is to get a "capsulized" opinion of Roehl, Prime, Swift, JB Hunt, Werner and Schneider.
As a wannabe I've been more than just a little confused by the Bad Company/Good Company forums. There are thousands of carriers out there but wannabes, I think, tend to gravitate to the larger companies as a starting out place.
So far 99 members have responded to the poll. The average experience level of the participants is about 8.25 years. Combined experience of the participants is almost 600 years. That's not bad, but I think that, for the poll to be valid and reliable, the poll needs more than that.
All of us - wannabes, newbies and experienced drivers alike need the wisdom of as many members as possible who have "been there, done that". No question that when the time comes, we all have to make the best decision we can and then live with it.
If the poll continues to have good response, more companies will be added to the poll. There is no intent to ignore any of the good companies (or bad companies).
I don't know how this is going to turn out but I hope that it will have some value. We'll see!
Please go to the poll and vote. At some point this initial poll will be shut down, new companies will be added, and a new poll will start. If it's allowed to continue, it could be a reference for those just getting into trucking and for those who have been at for a while.
I've got time to do this and I'd sure like to give back a little to the members who have been kind enough to answer some of my bonehead questions and maybe help out those of us who are trying to find our way in this industry.
    Thanks,
    Oldnewbiegonnabe
