No, Private Messages do not have to be solicited, it was poor word choice and explanation on my part. The thread starter sent several dozen users a generic PM asking them to comment on his thread, and that's not what the PM system is intended for. I think it's obvious that this behavior is frowned upon, I'm not going to start publishing rules about how people can and can't use PM's. Be respectful, golden rule, yada yada yada

 

I'm glad to hear that you didn't mind it, but a number of users contacted me to complain, and I certainly understand their being annoyed. If it became routine for people to shoot out 50 PM's to members that they have no prior connection to in order to get a few of them to post on a thread, I can't imagine that anyone wouldn't be annoyed. We're nipping it in the bud, I don't see a reason to make an issue out of it.
