Keep in mind the tank is provided so no maintenance there. I'm curious if this is something I should consider pursuing?
If you haul crude oil for 68% of the load is that a good deal?

68% of what? What's the rate?
Charli Girl, Rockdoctor and WorldofTransportation Thank this. -
Excellent seldom asked question Oscar, % of what, in the chemical world the going rate seems to be somewhere in the 60-65% of gross plus FSC. depending on how you have your truck equipped.(pump ,food grade or not, compressor, in-transit heat, ect.) I know a couple of guys in the fuel world that get 68-70%, but fuel hauling rates are way down by comparison. 68% is a good percentage as long as the rate is where it should be.

I don't get to hug up on the % because it really isn't a good comparison. 95% of a company with cheep freight is worse then 60% of a company with awesome freight. Is this just one load, or are you looking to sign on with a company that hauls crude? I'd try and figure out what you would average . mile and see if that number is acceptable.

8,400 gallons of West Texas Intermediate crude oil was up six cents at $103.09 barrel. 42 gallons in a barrel makes each gallon $2.454. $20,618 is value of load. 68% = $14,020.24. That's great money!!!!
Just kidding I answered his question literally since the denominator was "the load" and the numerator was 68. -
68% sounds low to me but iv never hauled crude. i know i can haul water for 77% with trailer rental/maintenance included, basically 13% is the company's share 10% for trailer rental. 23% to the company 77% to the truck

I'm interested in the 68% if I get there trailer. Where do I sign up? Driving a '06 Pete

I haul water but I have friends hauling crude as company drivers. They haul two loads a day takes them 12 hours to complete the load at 25% to 30% and it averages them 25 dollars an hour 180 bbls a load. But there is also monthly bonuses for the amount of bbls hauled per month. Not every company is the same if I were you I would talk to some other O/O crude hauler and ask them their averages, try calling Maxxon they have 0/0 crude haulers and could give you a better idea.

My opinion may not mean much as I haul in Alberta Canada but the company I work for pays 70% and that is a ##### raping out here, usually other companies pay 75% but the company I work for has alot of benefits to it.
Up here the average Truck grosses 30k a month and as was stated, don't pay much mind to the % because when I ask around no mmatter what % they make, the gross is usually the same.Rockdoctor Thanks this.
