If you know that you are overweight, do you blow past the scale house?

I am 60 pounds over on my drive axle but I am not worried any, no weigh station here in Oklahoma is going to care. This just got me wondering though. If you know for a fact that you are say 2k pounds over gross weight, and you are coming up to a scale house that is open and it is too late for turning around, would it be safer to just keep going?

Twice in my short time on the road have I bypassed a scale house and both times nothing happened, no one chased me down. So if you pull in you are definitely facing a fine and probably have to offload some cargo. Or you can take the chance to get by without any problem. If you do get pulled over I imagine it will be bad.

I won't run that far over to start with. Problem solved.

If I have to go out of route to the closest scale I do. If I have to go back for rework I do. I get paid for all of it so why risk it?

Couple hundred pounds maybe. I've figured a work around a time or two. More than that? Not happening.

You've just been lucky. I know a couple guys got chased down soon as they blew by one and watched them go after guys in tn a couple times. Just not worth it.

Well if you get caught it will be a moving violation as compared to just an overweight citation and im sure you will get a level one inspection. ..... i suggest you do what everyone else does, DONT take an over gross load! Now if you were over weight, you would be on the cb finding out if the scale is open and a way around it.

To honestly answer that question ?

YES....Your Odds are more in your favor to pass it..If You go in the scale, Its a pretty much guaranteed Fine and Rework which can cost thousands of dollars .....

As a professional....The correct answer would be to NEVER blow a weigh station, Unfortunately, the world we live in today,Where corporate greed reigns and everyone is out to 'Get' you...Yeah,You take your chance and Blow the scale with Confidence on your side!!

if this was 1985..Id Say Go in and try to 'explain' yourself..A better era and time where people actually had compassion...

I wouldn't be anywhere near a scale if I was 2000 lbs overweight.

It happens, if I can't figure out a go around, then a I figure out a work around or the load gets reworked. But, to blow by the scale, I can tell you that in some states, you'll get an extra ticket for doing it. Forget what Colorado calls it, but I've had two of them, the first time was $400, second time was $150, both times the company paid because I was following orders.

Better quit pressing your luck, sometime an officer will chase you down and it won't be pretty. Why would you even wanna be that much overweight. It's not worth the fine and the downtime at the scale house.

If you over 2000 lbs and you know you got to scale just stop at a truckstop an buy a dozen so or donuts and 2 coffees and have it ready for the dot officers and that might help if they pull you aside
