They have grabbed me a few times at the tolls for a quick log check.
The station down by the pilot (in or near bath NY) happens to be open most days I am in the area
If you know that you are overweight, do you blow past the scale house?

On 90 they like to play at the border eastbound before the tolls and westbound out of buffalo.
Then theres a few prime exits they like to sit at.
Got me southbound on 395 in Rochester this fall, pulled me off the interstate to a parking lot.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
GA was the one state last year giving out tickets for being over axle even.
Scales do chase down skippers, those that haven't had it happen are just lucky I guess.
Some DOT do have hearts as experienced by husband in Delaware last year after he had a deer commit trailer suicide and he had some sort of air leak. -
I was 2000 lbs over on my drive axles on a load from Arizona to El Paso with the trailer tandems all the way forward. I "moseyed" on through Lordsburg, NM to bypass that scale.

if your only over by less than a few hundred pounds just make sure you throw the dead lot lizard out before you get to the scale....problem solved.
really i never just hand them a overweight if im over ill route around a scale house. of if that scale house that is never open all of a sudden happens to be open and no one got word to me and there is any way i can come up with a excuse of why i didn't pull in. (ramp full car beside me couldn't change lanes ect) i keep on going they can run me down and bring me back if they want that overweight. but i wouldn't take a over weight load that was going real far and i didn't know the route to start with. there much more likely to get me for overweight on the portables than a actual scale house.
