If you leased 1st, how long did you wait until you got authority?

Finding affordable insurance coverage for a new tanker or haz-mat OO would be almost impossible.

 

I probably have 15 permits to do haz in individual states in my permit book. Knowing who wants what is what scares me the most.

 

12 months as company driver, 12 months leased on, 9 months own authority..

According to popular opinion, I should fail and go bankrupt any day now.

 

We have one lady in the office who does nothing but regulatory compliance. She knows how all the federal, state, county, and city paperwork has to be done. She knows when and how it has to be filed and what constitutes approval.
She says her biggest challenge is staying up with all the constant changes from various agencies and then communicating with us so we can let the drivers know.
We did business for a lot of years without paying much attention to that stuff. Those days are gone forever.

 

3 weeks once they messed with my home time I was getting my LLC formed a day after . I have Enough things I cant control but my home time is not to be messed with .

 

Bought new truck Oct 2016 from the Pumpkin stayed there for 15 months over to a small Reefer Company for 7 own Authority now for 17 months. Greatest ever.

29 years. But I'm still leased. Wanted to go the indie route decades ago. Wife ran the numbers a thousand times. We both saw the increase in income, and liability. It was decided I would wait till kids were out of school. Well now a days I just dont want the extra work. Paper work, ifta, base plate, calls, billing, waiting to get paid, just to name a few.
