Everyone on this forum should apply to CR Englund then draw out the recruitment process as long as possible before finally yelling them no. Think of how much of their time we could waste.

my weekly average is well over 3000/wk since the first of the year and almost that for the year ending last year.....and I'm home every weekend and making money on a level that my wife doesn't have to work and we're stuffing money away in the bank.
if you have a good marriage, it doesn't/won't matter what you do for a living or how long you stay out. sure, my wife complains from time to time that I'm gone 5-6 days a week and only home weekends......until I remind her just how well we're doing, that she doesn't have to work and that she is free to pursue her volunteer work with her church and her outside interests. she suddenly remembers why she married me and what a great guy I am and I don't hear it again for a couple months lol she also goes with me several weeks during the course of the year and that time together is good for both of us and gets her out of the house and keeps those 4 walls from closing in on her as well.
if you have young kids would be where I would see the exception to the above paragraph......I couldn't/wouldn't want to do otr if the kids were young and can understand why others wouldn't want to in that situation either.....but mine are grown and gone and have their own kids now and that does change that equation somewhat. I can see the grandkids when I'm home and then send them home.
personally I wouldn't have a local job. the few guys I know personally who are local hate it and spend less quality time at home than I do. they come in dead tired, go to bed, get up and leave again. one of them even went back otr just so he could make more money and when he was home, the time he was there was quality time, not just sleep time.....then there are those with the better local gigs who love it.
dispatch? I spent almost 20 years in an office environment staring at 4 walls and listening to whining employees. never again.
that is the beauty of this industry though.....you can find your niche in it if you keep your nose clean and have a good record and that's all that matters.....we all can find the spot that suits us and where we're happy if we stick with it past the initial year or soLast edited: Mar 8, 2015
