These questions and these debates prove what it has come to with our society today.

Thirty years ago you would have stopped because it was the right thing to do. You wouldn't have asked someone else's opinion because you would have known what was the right thing to do.

You wouldn't have wondered what am I legally required to do. You would have done the right thing.

Does anyone else see what we are doing to ourselves? I hate stupid rules and regulations and government control more than anyone else. However, I see why we are being so heavily regulated. We no longer do what is right unless the law makes us.

If the accident just happened and you were a witness, by law you are to stop and render assistance.

Now if two people are in a fender bender, and both mutually agree, you both can go your merry way.

If the law was called, both parties are required to stay put regardless.

The fact a car/truck hit a totaled car doesn't matter, the law was on their way. Plus who's to say someone wasn't laying on the floor board with a broken neck and you just finished them off.

Don't assume. Pull over and find the facts out. See if everyone is alright. Running will just get anyone in serious trouble and is the act of a coward. Like BigJohn said, morally it's the right think to do even if no law prevails.

Why not be nice to fire and rescue who are responding and block the road with your truck so no first responders get run over. Then when the fire tuck gets on scene and the cops say you are ok to leave you can be on your merry way knowing you helped and do the right thing.

Wow! Yes, anytime you touch something other than pavement, you should stop.

Although I agree the right thing to do is to stop, and while that is what I would do, there is no law requiring you to do so unless you are party to the accident... and witnessing the accident does not count. There is not even any law requiring you to report it.
