Get with a carrier that does touring like Nascar, CBS sports, NFL, concert staging equipment hauling, motorcycle industry(bikeweeks). Those carriers stay out make really good money and usually stay in hotels. The downside is no matter what you have to be ready to go. No such thing as a sick day or gotta make an appointment somewhere. No such thing as bad weather either. Those trucks absolutely have to move when given the command! This is why they make the big bucks.

I personally have known at least a handful of newbies who have gotten these jobs straight out of school so it is possible. A big part of it is that most newbies follow the rest of the herd and just don't know or don't think about going after jobs like this.

The bulk of the students in the school I'm attending are making big plans for North Dakota.

Sanjel hires out of this school.

Yeah Millis was great, almost all drop and hook if you ran hard, like 60 percent for me.Only did a couple multi stops in a year and it was only 2 or 3. I did 140,000 miles my first year, didn't do much home time. They are not paperless anymore so with the e logs you won't be running like that any more. I was averaging over 3,000 even in the winter, but not everyone there was. They had a pay differential when you went over 2999 for the week that was great. MY dispatcher was cool even when I was in the shop for a service and down a day he would find me a broker load and I would still get my 3 G in for the week.

I would look deeper than SNI for Tanker. A couple of guys have recently been hired by Superior Carriers right out of school

I made 48K my first year right out of school and that was 2008 when the recession hit. Been high 50's ever since. That is on about 105,000 miles per year with 110+ home days. I define a home day as one where I am there 24 hours. I do not count any days that I work or drive at all.

How are the trucking jobs in CT/ NE? It seems if I pursue my dream of OTR, I need to have a home base other than CT.
