I'm in training with Central Refrigerated in Conley, Ga. just south of Atlanta and i'm pretty confident that the training here is as good or better than anywhere that takes students for no upfront $$ and gives them a job afterwards. The school is fast-paced but the Instructors are very knowledgeable and train you to be a driver instead of just training you to get a license. These are really good people in Conley who take their job very seriously. If you succeed their you will start at 28 cents a mile including deadhead or empty trailer miles and drive a nice late model truck. It's not much but it is a place to start and probably a better place than most to start as a company driver. Call Wayman Downing at 800-777-9100 ext. 8805 if you want to pursue training/career, he is the Recruiting Manager there.

I don't know how it is in Texas but in Georgia you are restricted from driving manual transmissions if you take your test in an automatic plus i have heard that trucking companies really frown on that also.
