I don't drive but have a question. Are ifta taxes linked to your income taxes?
Say someone doesn't pay them does it show up on your income tax?
Thanks in advance and feel free to treat me like the idiot I am.

IFTA is part of your state taxes and your company EIN
Grumppy Thanks this. -
If you don't pay your IFTA taxes, they'll flag your IFTA registration & it will be invalid. When you get stopped by DOT/State Police or at a weigh station & they do an inspection on your paperwork, they will see that its expired & will issue a citation.
It's a similar situation to invalid licence or truck registration. Not exactly, but for basic explanation...
Then you have to pay your back fuel taxes to be reinstated.
TBH, I've never heard of anyone getting in this situation. I don't think I've ever really thought about it. If I am a bit off, I welcome any corrections. -
It won't get much farther than the next port of entry, where you will bring it up current before your rig moves on down the road.
NightWind Thanks this.
