Well that depends, do you own the truck, did they tell you they'd supply the ifta?

legally , yes but most carriers have a policy if you're ticketed for something you should have noticed on a pretrip you will be charged for the ticket .

I would almost say that you and the company are responsible. I know drivers don't like to hear that they are responsible for a truck, but they are. Yes the company probably had plenty of time to put the sticker on, but you failed to notice it or take action with the problem. i would try to get the company to pay the ticket and if they won't then try to negotiate them paying half.

Ultimately you are. You are responsible for what you drive. Hopefully your company will take care of it. There should not be any points with the citation. However, you would need to contact the State you live in and the State you received the citation in. When you contact them, ascertain if points are assessed with this violation.

it depends on what atate you get picked up in. I was in a penske rental truck that my company rented me. og tpicked up at chicken house in ohio on a monday and wisconsin the next morning. ohio they gave me a nonmoving violation ticket. i had to have penske fax paperwork that they had paid for the decal but failed to pu it on before they would let me leave. told me i was legal by carryin that paper until i could get the decal on. they were wrong. in wisconsin they impounded the truck until the fine was paid on the spot by my company, and the ticket went to them, not me.

Where to start...Well first off a person or company doesn't pay for the stickers. The stickers are free and just linked to the a account number that you have to report miles and gallons purchased quarterly. When the amounts are reported this is when a dollar amount is figured and paid by the user. I can understand why you were issued a ticket in Ohio. But the paperwork that Penske should of faxed you should of included a temporary IFTA permit. They are free and you only have to contact the states taxation department.

As for Wisconsin, I would guess that you didn't have the temporary permit. In my opninion ther is no excuse for not having the proper IFTA sticker on a truck. The process is simple, takes less than 5 min. to do, and is FREE.

It's not a temporary permit. With the ifta decal comes your ifta paper that has to be carried in the truck. that paper is what was faxed to me at the scalehouse in ohio. that paper is what i showed the wis. dot the next morning, it wasn't enough. the law is that you need to have the decal on the side of your truck, just having the permit in the truck is not enough.

as for not having an excuse.....
it was a rental truck. the sticker expired last year. I picked the truck up the last week of february. saw the sticker was expired. was told by penske that there was a grace period to replace the sticker and they hadn't gotten the sticker yet. which is true, you can have a ifta decal from the prior year until march 1st of he year. i did not know that, only that i was in a grace period. I kept the truck and got the tickets march 1st and 2nd.
regardless, it's kinda like renting a car and then getting picked up for having expired tags. could you have caught that before hand? yeah, sure you could of. is it reasonable to think that maybe since penske doesn't even have to dispatch loads, that their entire business revolves around keeping legal vehicles in stock for customers to rent, they would keep everything legal? i would of thought so, but apparently not.
