Why don't you do something right, get rid of it, get a truck that just needs some fixing up to be road ready?

    OK i guess.

The rear end may be the issue, just because it has "overdrive" doesn't mean you will hit the engine rpm spot as you need. Direct drive is better by the way, better fuel mileage. so maybe looking at the rear end change would be simpler and possibly cheaper.

    Kwtrucker10 Thanks this.

That’s what I am trying to figure out. I have found a set of 3.54 spicer rears for my truck for $2800 and I just want a second opinion if I’m making the right choice

I'm no gearhead specialist but if you do a homemade (against the dash) double over you run into startability problems. If you run 80k lbs, getting it to rolling from dead stop on a sizeable hill will be problem.

Sorry about late reply..busy this morn. Not sure of ratio in rears. But it raised top end a fair bit, and also enables you to split the top gears. Any good gear shop can give you a good estimate on top end. Especially if you already know your top end set up as it is now. And you know your rear ratio. Tire size makes some difference also. Trans Gear in Hubbard Ohio is knowledgeable. Don't know how far you are from them?

That’s why I’m contemplating having the rear ends replaced for right now and then down the road if I keep this truck for awhile Putting in a 500 horsepower 12.7 and a 13 speed

Well here is the thing, the engine sweet spot will dictate what rears you get, I have a truck with a direct drive but it has a 3.23.

What are you going to be using the truck for?
