Gary is such a wonderful place... The van was new last year, but have you seen the streets there... The van serves a purpose to move people from the motel to orientation, and it works for that, therefore no reason to replace it. If it were my company, I would have a new van to move new hires around in, so I got the wow factor, but Rick and Company would rather have the money in their pocket, and they really don't care a whole lot about what you think.

You think that van is bad, wait till you drive the loaner cars...LOL!

Marshfield got new vans last year so I would expect Gary to be next.

Far be it from me to rain on peoples parades, but have been driving with Roehl for a few months now and all I can say is this...recruiters are not in the business of ensuring successful careers, but the business of getting bodies in the doors. In this regard they are rather like salespeople. The story you're getting from them is the rosy version. My recruiter promised me 2100-2500 miles per week as midwest regional, and so far I've not even come within shouting distance of this number. While they're getting better on the miles in my experience, I had one paycheck come in with only 470 miles on it. Factor in the advance I always get so i have scale money, insurance, and tax, my check that pay period was negative $85. Also, for occasions where you need a lumper at the consignee, the lumper fee is put on your card as an advance. Yes, this means you're never going out of pocket for your lumper fees...however you're paying income tax for the amount of the advance you recieved. By and large, I have nothing to scream about as far as Roehl is concerned that isn't common throughout the industry...but I find I have to watch them more closely than I have with other companies. However, considering i have an abrasive personality its possible I simply get on my FMs nerves

:biggrin_25522: Far as i could tell when i crunched the numbers , that what i came up with, neg 50- 98 every two weeks, thats not gonna pay rent-food , everydale bills, even at my day job i have now and were i live now, i have too at lest 789 a month too live and thats no food or gas for car, so i need too keep those truckin wheels at 2500-3500 miles a week @.32 cent a mile, .@28 cents after taxes , no ins, so with that were did they start you at and is those lumper fees is that set in stone or can you do your own way as not too get a smaller check, i figure i run with em for a year, hopefully start at 32 and go from there.:biggrin_25524:

If you are a company driver you are not taxed on lumper fees, you get taxed on your cash advance only. I have never seen a lumper fee added to my normal advance during the week. If you think you're getting taxed for it and are not an l/o or o/o you need to contact payroll Monday morning. You should not be taxed on company reimbursements either or your blue badge for tolls. I do believe these are pre-tax just like our retirement funds.

Yes they are all pretax. They don't take taxes out of an advance for lumber fees. The only reason they even do the advance thing is to be sure they get the receipt...

I hit the road for Marshfield a week from next Saturday. Starting rdtc on the 15th. I am getting excited. Nervous as this is a major lifestyle change, but in a good way.

Good luck to you... Learn all you can and question everything.... When you get frustrated, take time to chill and relax. It's not hard but you can make it more complicated than it is.

Pay attention to detail and don't focus too hard on what you might perceive to be a negative.

Watch your fellow students and learn from their mistakes... It's amazing what can happen when you least expect it...:biggrin_25519:

    See you out here....
