"""""isnt that to expensive??? Right now I am driving 07 century with detroit 60 in it for a friend of mine
, its got 795k miles and he is only asking 25k, dry motor but the engine sometimes chokes when at low rpm... it could be egr valve ..i dont know """"""

I had an 06 Century with a det60 12.7L that had the same problem around 1200 rpm. That same truck caught fire on april fools day of last year. I dont know if its related and I dont know how it started. All I can tell you is I barely had enough time to stop the truck and get out before it went up from under the hood. My guess is it IS related so watch that!!!!!!! burned.jpg

A glider kit is basically a factory frame, suspension and body which you can order in with whatever factory extras you want or don't want, then your builder will give you a choice of rebuilt motors and drive train setups. Usually people are using these to eliminate having to take an EGR motor from the factory. They are not California legal but can save a lot of headaches and repair bills by using pre EGR motors. If you don't plan or need to run California it would be worth checking into. You can pick and choose which aftermarket products you would prefer over OE stuff as well which a good builder will be familiar with.

I see. Does Freightliner still make the Columbia and Century on a per order basis?

That I am not sure about but I have an idea they do, also I know the Coronado's were a popular choice as well. If you cannot get the Columbia or Century frames from the factory then I would bet money they are available from a builder. You know you might be suprised how many smaller and medium sixed companies use gliders, even Schneider uses them for some applications. It is a true solution and the business is getting bigger and bigger, it's not just an afterthought anymore. I have an 2002 Century with a DD60 12.7 500hp motor that I have been upgrading little by little. 10 years in now, never been on the hook (knock on fibreglass) averging 6.5 - 6.75 mpg annually, my fuel costs last year was 42.6% of gross revenue. Oil samples continue looking good at 1,037,000 miles. Bull gear is good, turbo is good....consensus is not looking at an inframe until maybe 1.3 or 1.4 million. Will probably do the bottom end this year just because......my only issue is I live in Calif. but maybe not for much longer.

    Holy buckets.....

And I thought I was high at 32% of gross for fuel..... I am hoping to get it under 30% this year.

    WOW.

mine is almost 48%. but we do longer distance running. if you stay somewhat under 500 mile radius you should be alot less, because your time is more a factor than fuel. 100 miles should pay 400 or 500. so you had low fuel cost but a good part of your day gone.

I have a heavy haul O/O who is like 25%, but he only doing 400 miles a day avg.

How many miles did you do last year at 32%. DO you do coast to coast? thats impressive to see
