Thought the rule was every new CDL driver was supposed to be trained at a proper driver school. If they are not trained that would suggest there is some kind of corruption going on high up in the Transport department.

On Wednesday, April 9, the Arkansas House passed HB1745 with an 82-0 vote after clearing the Senate unanimously last week. In addition to an English-proficiency provision for CDL holders, the bill also makes false or improper documentation a felony for foreign-domiciled truck drivers.

Once the bill is signed into law, anyone operating a commercial vehicle must exhibit English proficiency. Truck drivers must be able to show that they can read and speak English sufficiently to:

    • Converse with the general public
    • Understand highway traffic signs and signals in English
    • Respond to official inquiries
    • Make entries on reports and records

The ELDT rule really changed nothing. You can do the theory training online, many courses under $100, and the training hours behind the wheel aren’t specified. So people learn just enough to pass the test, same as it’s always been.

65000 is really not that much. It's 3 million or so drivers. How does that really move the needle in terms of cutting costs?

Besides, US drivers don't really stay in the industry that long anyway so how is 65000 foreigners supposed to supplant the mich higher number of drivers that don't last longer than 1 to 3 years?

65 000 on the top of 1 million + in the past 4 years, to all of them illegally given SSN's and CDL's. And they do last longer.

    KDHCryo and Siinman Thank this.

It's the same in the USSA. A large majority is indirectly tax funded through organizations and churchs. We're literally paying for slow genocide.

There are 3 million cdl holders. The majority of those are not engaged in for hire trucking. I think the number of Actual truck drivers is closer to 1 million. So 65,000 is 6.5%. That quite a large amount

    3.6 million

As of the latest data from the American Trucking Associations (ATA), there are approximately 3.6 million professional truck drivers in the U.S. That's right—3.6 million individuals dedicated to keeping the economy on its wheels, quite literally.Sep 12, 2024

At least 2 million of them don't meet the requirements to be truck drivers in the USA.

KDHCryo, Siinman and ElmerFudpucker Thank this.
