I was thinking that if the president and congress pass a bill that grants the
illegal aliens (mostly mexicans) legal permission to stay and work and
therefore get drivers licenses, won't that cause a glut of drivers and
therefore cause mileage rates for drivers to decrease? I came from the
construction industry and wages have been crushed downward since so
many illegals have been hired by the builders and contractors. The illegals
dominate the sheetrockers/plasters, landscapers, carpenters, masons,
roofers, machinery operators and have made inroads on the electricians
and plumbers. If the wages for drivers get any lower, how can we all pay
our mortgages, utilities and food? I don,t know about you but 35 to 40K
in california does not pay the bills. It is great for the mid west states but
the drivers from those states will have less too. Any reasonable suggestions appreciated.

This illegal thing has gotten out of control. How many people know that the state of TEXAS has been giving In-State residency credit for illegal college students? They arent even US citizens but they are getting in-state tuition rates in Texas. Your kid or my kid from another state pays about 3 times more than that if they want to go to a TX school. Of course you know who is paying for this nonsense in the long run. Mr Taxpayer of course.
A state congresswomen is sponsoring a bill that would require in-state tuition to be given to citizens only. How has it gotten this crazy and why are the politicians not listening?
American taxpaying citizens are fed up.

Bush said in his SUTU speech the other night that he wants real immigration reform. Then in the next sentence he said amnesty. Illegals are a cheap source of labor and if anyone thinks that this administration is going to get rid of them is kidding themselves.

There are plenty of past admins that bear the same responsibility of the current one. And we can be certain that if the other side were in power nothing would be done then either.

President Bush confuses me on this one; I believe this is the most liberal decision that I have seen him deal yet. I don't understand it, complete stupidity. That's my 2 cents.

    same baloney, different decade

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

The absolute sheer driving force of our national economy - without truck drivers, our entire national economy would come to an absolute standstill - if not outright be dead.

Over the mountains, through the woods, into the valleys, coast to coast, from sea to shining sea - truck drivers can and do go anywhere and everywhere, every day, every night, all year round.
