Illinois kingpin to rear axle max?

    Is it 42 1/2 feet or 45 1/2? I know Rand McNally says 42 1/2 but I've seen online sources say that's for Class 3 roads only and it's 45 1/2 for interstates. I always thought it was 45 1/2.

    Can't help on that, But I've seen multiple times the Illinois scale around Lincoln il. Measuring big trucks for compliance.
    Pulling a tanker I have no worries lol

    "Synopsis As Introduced
    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Repeals provisions providing that the distance between the kingpin and the center axle of a semitrailer longer than 48 feet, in combination with a truck tractor, may not exceed 42 feet 6 inches and that such a limit shall not apply to trailers or semitrailers used for the transport of livestock."
