Could you explain why you might want flatbed so bad? Money? Load type?

You kind of have the odds against you and you probably don't really know too much about getting out there. Please, I am trying to be constructive- not negative.

My advice to you is to get a local job which would be much easier for you to get into. You don't have to plan on it being permanent, but do consider how your work history and experience will look on your next driver application. Going to school for six months sounds great and that will look good on you, but you need experience. Any kind of experience. You will be building your own profile of yourself and you need to take it seriously, even if that means doing something other that flatbed at first as a means of getting you were you want to go which is flatbed. You can still make good money, just put in as many apps as you can and hurry up and wait for a response.

    Hope this might help.

    Ray James.

hey guys, thanks to both of you, i dont no why i want to flatbed, i just always wanted to flatbed, iv been on a few runs with some neighbors that drive, both dryvan and flatbed. and the flatbed is just much much better, not sure why. but right now at this point im willing to take what i can get, and i am not really looking to work for a local place, i want over the rd. im young, and companies will take me, just not the big flatbed companies that i want to go with, i was a lil too piclky, but after doing further research iv realized that i cant be
so im putting apps in all over the place
    thanks again to you all

Hey Soontobe, sounds like your program must be very thorough to take six months. Good for you! I don't think there's such a thing as too much training. I just got out here on my own and there are things I wish had been covered. But we all have to go on our own eventually. I'm not sure of the age requirement part but for me ATS has been a good co. so far. You can read for your self if you want. Anyway, just keep trying and do as much research on each co. as you can stand. What doesn't sound good now may be perfect later. Who knows. Good luck!

From what Ive seen all your big boys (swift, werner, n schneider, prime) will teach you to flatbed at 21. Though I dont know why you would want to start out on the harder end of the spectrum fresh out of school. Best of luck to you whatever you choose.

Hey Calitrucker.... iv decided that i wanted to do flat bad a while ago, and after getting in to school and doing further reasearch on the industy the fladbed division just seems way more appealing to me, and speaking to truckers of all divisions flatbed wins by a long shot, and yeah i no that there are bad things to flatbedding, however, to me, its way better, and somthing that i just want to do.....but, i do realize that i cant be too picky ( which is what i have been doing ) and just settle for the next best thing weather its this that or the other things.
thanks for the luck wish, hope it works
    best of luck to you,
    be safe out there.
