    Hello, Amora
For some reason I'm having difficultly private messaging you...or anyone for that matter. Odd. Maybe if you private message first, I might be able to respond. Worst case we could simply message on this forum.
    Thanks,
    Andrea

Hey Drtydog, I am very glad that you asked. I am doing quite well. I am a personal dispatcher for 4 trucks now. They are hotshot drivers, meaning a 1 ton dually pick up truck with generally a 40 ft flatbed trailer. I am doing very very well with them. Earning about a $1,000 a week from all 4 drivers. All from home with my children. I love this job, and I am very surprised how easily I've fit into this slot. I am very happy doing this and I am so very thankful for all of you guys help and advise throughout my whole journey. I am also very proud to say that I have been averaging my drivers $5000 to $6500 a week..generally 5 days runs..with occasionally saturday deliveries. I do not do any direct manufactured freight for my hotshots..of course, I simply work off the load boards. I will take the time to fill out broker packets and send in the required documentation so that the driver doesn't have to worry about anything but driving. My four drivers are nicely spaced across the country, one is in Phoenix, AZ, one in Tulsa, OK, one in Milwaulkee, WI and one in Asheville, NC. I actually had 5 drivers..but one had an accident a couple of weeks ago and totalled his truck and trailer. Thankfully he was fine and the current load was undamaged, but it was scary nonetheless. You guys have been a blessing for me...and I am so thankful you were there with me at the beginning of my journey. I definately believed that starting out on the right foot was the most important. I wouldn't have been able to do that without you guys. THANK YOU!! Andrea

That is GREAT news. I recently been laid off from my driving job and I have about 11 years experience in driving. So I am looking at starting my own business and I came across your post today and you and all the others where amazing. Would you be able to pm me? I would love to get some of your thoughts or even looking for a mentor if that would interest you at all. I'm happy to hear that your doing great. By the way who did you do your training with?

actually i am a driver with my own authority and i have handled my entire business getting my own loads doing all my paperwork every little detail and yet i am still considering having a dispatcher cause there have been times after i deliver a load i cant always get a load with a decent rate right away where as a dispatcher can work on getting a load before i deliver saving time and allowing me more loads will make it worth while considering i still have to do all the paperwork and invoicing keeps me from running more loads. i don't believe you need direct shippers to make this model work if the dispatcher understands rates are not set in stone and are flexible and they will negotiate the rates with the dispatcher that cant be taught you do need to have a little knowledge of industry rates and shipping lanes I can usually get between $100-$500 more for a load then what they first quote me remember the better paying loads you get the drivers the more they will keep using the service
