Hey here Mr. Ryan. Just wanted to say I really enjoy this thread. It's very informative and well put together. I've been watching your video lately too. You have a good way of explaining things and a great demeanor, especially when things don't go as exactly planned, (Atlanta Blues) which is important in trucking. Just wanted to let you know there's still us out here who enjoy your updates and vids so please keep em comin! I plan on callin a Maverick recruiter Monday, hopefully they have good news and room for 1 more in the Regional Midwest Region, as I'm in St. Louis. Thanks again and enjoy the rest of your weekend. Hopefully soon I'll see you around!

Thanks "motocross25", I've been slacking a bit with updates, so I'll try to keep at it.
Last week I left out Monday morning and delivered in Greenfield, IN, which is pretty darn close to home. I then deadheaded over to Crawfordsville, IN and picked up a coil for the twin cities. I had a nice trip up with a tailwind the whole way and got unloaded and loaded just a few miles away in Wisconsin. That load was bound for Sparta, MI and was pallets with bags of sandblasting media. Chicago went well and I hit it just after morning rush hour and I enjoyed getting up into Michigan. When empty they deadheaded me to our Portage, IN yard since my truck needed a big service. I made it down there with little hours to spare and first thing in the morning I got my service complete. Our terminals are nice in that you can take a company car for food, they have showers and laundry, and an exercise room. In time I got an assignment to deadhead back up to Grand Haven, MI to get a load of finished steel parts bound for NC. I loaded Friday morning so this was my take home load. So here I sit, Friday night at home again! This makes well over 80 straight weekends I've gotten home with Maverick.

That's incredible. It sounds like a great week. I've been watching your YouTube videos, they're very thorough and well put together. I reached out to Maverick this week. I talked to Brittney she was VERY nice and helpful. Very patient with all the questions I had (which were a lot) that I'm sure she's answered a gajillion times already. Very informative. And just really professional it seemed. She said I was in a good freight lane being in St. Louis and with Madison, IL so close by, she almost all but guaranteed my weekend hometime. It all sounds good, but as I'm sure you know a company change does not go without its thinking through and thorough discussions with my better half. But right now everything sounds good and from the research I've done and the drivers I've talked to and you and @JimTheHut thread, everything matches up everyone seems to enjoy and talk about the company in high regards, and I'm hoping to be joining the team too if they'll have me.

It's best to take your time and get as much background info as you can. I can answer (maybe) any questions that might come up. I've learned that Maverick is as honest as they come about everything. What you see and hear is what you'll get. Living in SL should get you good work. Good luck!

Thanks you for the info and the help. She did seem very honest which is good. It seems like they won't just tell you anything to get you through the door. The only questions I think I have that I forgot to ask her was what their vacation policy and timeline is? Also she kinda talked about insurance but didn't really hammer out any numbers. Just pretty much said it was offered. Is it fairly reasonable? And do they contribute anything to 401 (k)? Thanks in advance!

Maverick does offer pretty good insurance, but I'm on my wife's plan and can't tell you if it's even better or worse. They do contribute into a matching style retirement plan, but I'm not signed up for it either. It's fairly recent and I haven't gotten around to it yet. If you ask for hard numbers on the health plan I'm sure they will tell you.

Gotcha. Thanks for the reply. I did a little digging today and actually it looks like Mavericks insurance is right on with what mine is now. So that's great. It keeps sounding better and better. My dad's friend flatbeds and he said too "it's very rewarding, and Maverick is renowned in the industry they'll train you right." I'm just skiddish about bailing on my current job and getting booted out before orientation is over. I'll hafta make sure all my t's are crossed and i's are dotted. Making sure my previous employment dates are accurate and all that jazz. Again thanks for taking time to reply! It's really appreciated

Last week saw me driving to NC, then western Illinois, over to Ohio, to Chicago where I broke down with a broken fan belt, then got a load from Burns Harbor to take home. I'll deliver that coil in Madison, IL (near our terminal) Monday morning. Meanwhile, I'm picking up a student Sunday. He's a TCD driver, so he'll be trained doing everything except securement. Since he didn't go through our securement training he won't be allowed to work up on the trailer. I made this video last week.

Exciting and really, really long week! Left out Sunday afternoon with my new student and drove to our Maverick terminal in Madison, IL. We delivered in the morning about a mile away! We deadheaded down into the Mark Twain Forest to a remote lumber yard and got a load which delivered in Fort Smith, AR ... right across the street from our terminal. We barely made it to the terminal by bed time and delivered our lumber in the morning. Steel plant using lumber? Yes, for dunnage! We turned right around and loaded bar for a place about 10 miles away, then returned to our yard and did a trailer swap for a load of bar going to Royal Oak, MI. We delivered, got our rest, then got a load of 4 coils to Allentown, PA. That put us a long way from home on Friday morning, but we unloaded quickly, then headed to the Port of Philadelphia to load lumber. We drove that home and got a much needed weekend at home. We'll leave out early Monday to deliver this load outside Chicago and start a new week.

This past week started with a very early drive from home to Chicago for a delivery we took home. We then loaded in Portage, IN for extreme southern Georgia with skidded coils. Our load out of Georgia was veneer which delivered in West Virginia. From there we loaded oriented strand board for a load home. It delivers in Ft. Wayne, IN Monday morning. So it was a three night at home weekend again! Next week will see us going to North Little Rock where I'm being assigned a new truck, then I need to be home for Memorial Day weekend because of a family funeral. My student has finished his second week and is progressing well!
