I'm not going to say its impossible..you are going to have to go door knocking..you may have to pay for your own school with no reimbursement, but you might luck out and find a company that will help you get your cdl..

If you put in the leg work it will pay off

Do a search here for Marcellus to find out about some of the E&P opportunities in the Marcellus Shale play. Also, try to find drilling companies in your area and go talk to them.

It might be kinda slow now, considering the low price of gas, but there are probably still some opportunities out there. You might have to knock on a lot of doors to find one, and you might have to start out doing some dirty work. The right attitude and selling yourself in person goes a long way in the oil patch.

Surely you butchered this post on purpose. Troll alert??

    Fine..I'll bite.
Please people, please try to at least write better than a 6 year old. Being a "newb" shouldn't mean you can't write or spell.

I'm not trying to dog on you, but I keep coming accross these posts where no effort at all is put into grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Believe me, I'm no rocket scientist myself, but posts like these just grind my gears.

Honestly, if you can't form a complete sentence or spell simple words, I don't think you are capable of driving today's big rigs at all.

My advice?? Put more effort into your posts...grammar and spelling wise. It makes you look dumb, if you don't.

I think a lot of this punctuation problem comes from people trying to post from phones. At any rate, I think a simple suggestion to 'work on communication skills' is much better than beating his ### up and kicking him in the nuts like you did.

Further, some of the best truck drivers I've ever known probably couldn't have even spelled CDL.

Also, on the subject of spelling, grammar, etc:

thanks for the info. I'm already going through school and all that stuff. I kind of figured it wouldn't be easy but all of the trainers at school said it's pretty much impossible to stay off the road. thanks for the input and i like to see what all you veterans think.

I wouldn't agree with them that "it's pretty much impossible to stay off the road." Is it easier to go the big company/otr route? Sure. But, there are success stories posted on here almost daily of people that made something happen for themselves by going after what they wanted. You can do that, too.

If you haven't seen it already, check out this sticky thread from the top of this forum:

    http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...ttention-all-rookies-wannabes-local-jobs.html

Read it all the way through, and then get busy and go after what you want. Make something happen.
