Looking for input to help me decide how to grow my company by leasing on Owner Operators.
If you are a professional driver with your own truck who has been an owner operator for years working more or less independently, I want to know what is most important to you in a relationship with a carrier.
Please list your top 3 most valued qualities in a carrier.
    I appreciate your time.

No 1099s allowed. Decent rate, no forced dispatch.

The delusion of making money under your business model in the current state of affairs is a disaster in the making.

I’m going out on a limb and guessing you will be reliant on spot market load board crap.

All said and done there isn’t enough of the pie left to satisfy you or your leased on oo’s.

You will have a constant turnover, a destroyed carrier score and be in bankruptcy court in short order.

The only way these current companies, doing what you’re thinking to do stay in business is by screwing the oo’s out of every dime you can scrape off their settlements.

Anyway to answer your question..If I was going to lease my truck on to another carrier..my demands that are non negotiable.

I provide all credentials, Tag, ifta license, 2290, individual state credentials etc. I provide my own fuel card. Not going to let a carrier nickel and dime me by charging more for any of these items.

Certain ELOG providers I refuse to use so we need to be on the same page. I’ve brought my own elog to a carrier before and it worked out fine. Just have to give full control of it to the carrier responsible for safety.

I do all my own dispatching and you provide access to any load board that I want. If I use xyz broker and you have other drivers that screw up the relationship by having to many service failures with xyz then I am as good as gone..don’t have time or patience for idiots.

If I brought my own truck and trailer an 85/15 split is okay. There will be no added fees from the carrier to me.

You will pay me direct deposit into my bank account within two business days and not charge me a factoring fee because that comes out of your 15% cut.
