Thanks everybody for your help. I contacted Ferrari Driving School in NYC about prices, looks like the entire course will cost $3,500-5,000, depending on the options that I choose. Went on the internet to look at the reviews and they are all over the place -- some people like them, some do not. Has anyone heard of this school? Can you offer any pointers whether there is a way to tell if the place is decent, without actually enrolling?
I'm as green as they come and with misdemeanor

You can do better price wise ,there are quite a few schools to pick from in this area.My twins got their class A's from Smith Solomon in Linden NJ for $2,800 each. One is currently driving for Swift, the other was driving for Werner but got terminated for hard braking,he gave up on driving and is working as a commercial roofer.Best of luck to you!

already looked into that. PA is one of the worst states in which to get convicted as they vacate/expunge a conviction upon reaching of age 73 or something similar. So unfortunately, will have to carry this with me for the rest of my life. Oh, well, I made my own bed... On a more cheerful note, just heard from two sources. One is a large trucking company (will keep name confidential for now) saying that based on the misdemeanor details that I have provided, it does not make me disqualified and they confirmed that they do hire people with misdemeanors. Second, I spoke to the HR head at the firm from which I got laid off. They explained to me that an employer will ask the following questions when deciding on the applicant: (i) was it a felony: no, (ii) was it a crime of violence: no, (iii) was it a crime of dishonesty: no, (iv) was it a repeat offence: no, (iv) time lapsed since the incident: 12+ yrs (in my case), (v) time since the conviction: 11+ yrs, (vi) jail time: no. They told me they literally have a checklist like that. They said a felony is a major problem, as well as violence and dishonesty crimes, and repeat incidents. So I do feel more confident now that they told me that.
I am currently trying to relocate to a less expensive apartment to save $$, after that will go for a CDL. -
By the way, the trucking company that I contacted offered to speak to one of their recruiters about which CDL school is more preferable. Does anyone know, is it worth while trusting their recommendation for a school?
