First of all OP, please relax. A reckless is not a fatal to your career charge. Yes, it is going to make the next 3 to 5 years a bit more challenging, but you can recover from it. Reckless is a table 2 charge just as 15 over is. The best advice you can get right now is to get an attorney and see if you can get the charge downgraded. Or if you feel you are in fact innocent fight it. The problems come because some insurance carriers won't insure you. I might also add that reckless charges can also have an adverse effect on your personal vehicle insurance. You really need to find an attorney!

The lines were running parallel to the road. I pulled to the side of the road to do a u turn and got to close to the lines. And in this process they became hooked onto my trailer. As I drove forward, not knowing lines were on my trailer, the lines being connected to a pole, pulled the pole to the ground.TheLoadOut Thanks this.

I have no backing from any insurance company. My company fired two days after this.
-
I ripped down these lines. Got charged with reckless driving and was fired by my company. The lines were running parallel to the road and not across it. I wonder if that affects how the height is regulated.
-
What makes you say I had no business making the u turn? There were no cars around me and ahead was residential. I simply wanted to go back the way I came. Isn't the telephone company responsible for making the lines at height to where If a truck driver needs to pull over that this won't happen? A uturn is not an illegal maneuver.Gearjammin' Penguin Thanks this.

The lines I ripped down the first time was on church property which also affected the bar electrical lines across the street.
The second time was on apartment property. -
The wires weren’t hanging too low over the road/right of way. Looks to me by looking at your pictures that you went off road in the dirt prior to the u-turn.
Either that or I’ve misjudged your pictures..bryan21384 and MCribbs Thank this. -
Why was this cop so intent on ruining me for this?
-
So how did the cop come away with the reckless driving charge? Was it because you were attempting a u-turn across a 2 -4 lane road? or for the wires being torn down? Did the company fire you over the wires or the attempt at a u-turn? I think most companies frown upon doing u-turns across a highway. Either way you have to get that charge downgraded and chalk this up as a hard lesson.
bryan21384, MCribbs, gentleroger and 1 other person Thank this. -
Look the telephone company doesn’t have to meet the height clearance on an easement for their lines when they are leased from the power company. They can be 5 feet off the ground until vehicles have to cross under them.GreenPete359 Thanks this.
