I'm curious, what are some of your favorite trucking companies. Also, what do you love about them?

Ive been here at Marten Transport for almost two years and finally put in my two week notice, cause I just cant sleep in the truck anymore. About 2 hours later I get a call. They found me one man dedicated position. Now I am home everyday and on weekends and make about the same. Cant ask better than that.

Goggin Truck Lines WAS the oldest trucking company in TN. They were bought out by Old Dominion Freight Lines in 1998 or 99. Goggin Warehousing is still in business. Averitt was bought from Mr. Averitt back in the 70s or 80s. The current owner has grown the company to its current size. It has about 5000 tractors, 15,000 trailers and terminals all over the Southeast. I think it ranks as 33 in the industry's Top 100 by size/revenue.

I worked for Werner and K&B, and I made good money at both companies. A 'go getter' kind of driver with positive attitude will be successful no matter what company they go to. Sometimes the problem isn't the company, it's us.

    Well said....

I remember standing in a Roehl Terminal in Gary IN and a driver walks in and starts loudly complaining about how horrible Roehl was treating him. He complained about low miles, Fleet manager that was being mean and unreasonable and all this poor human behaviors out of a company. I started asking him what he was doing. I learned his Fleet Manager was MY fleet manager also. I also heard him say "....I tell THEM when I am available to work NOT the other way around..." He went on to tell me all the "creative names" he had called his fleet manager because he didn't want to do what they asked him to do.......drive 92 miles to the terminal to deliver a relay load to another driver in excellent weather when he had over 3 hours duty time left. "I don't let anyone push me........"

I just smiled and walked away quickly. I have no time for that poop.
