Practice....practice....practice. There is no *failure* until you quit trying.
When I was younger I took up martial arts. I was the worst student in the class. My learning curve was long and slow. Other students in my class would be progressing through the belts while I was stuck at white belt for a long time.
However, I was very persistent and would not give up. After 5 years of practicing every day I became a teacher--none of the students I started with ever made it to teacher level. They had quit along the way. I spent about 25 years teaching martial arts after that.
You must believe in yourself. Believe you can learn and succeed if you just keep trying. Do everything you can to reach your goal---study, look at YouTube videos, visualize the maneuvers, ask questions, draw, play with truck toys, practice---everything you can think of. Make the task of learning your God and you'll get there.
A small trickle of water will flow around a large boulder sitting in its way. With persistence, the water will eventually cut a path through the heart of the boulder. Be the water.

I want to give it my best shot but I feel like this school has screwed me. I've been practicing in a factory parking lot since January. I just did 3 days at the main campus and these guys have ####ing landmarks, dots in the pavement to aim for, the instructor actually gave me tips instead of just sitting in his car pointing.... And they're letting me be fluid, where-as at the satellite lot, ive been made to stop before turning the wheel when making adjustments to the trailer.
I feel like they've screwed me a fair bit. But I know that it's also my fault for allowing myself to sink, instead of swimming.... But I have issues with anxiety. I'm just worried about spending 3 Grand for another 20 hours and then still failing.... That's the last of my money.
Plus now I'm wearing glasses, my right eye is 20/40 corrected, my left is 20/20. My vision is all wonky. I have to get used to these glasses and I'm worried I won't.
But, I am thinking I will continue trying. This is a challenge in life and it's about time I find some self respect. But if I fail, I'm going to need a psychologist... -
Just some advice keep it simple really. Don't over think it. Hopefully the other students aren't know it all maybe they can give you some pointers. You paid 2400 for 20 hours of teaching and your 20 hours are up? I agree with you on that note Definitely don't pay another 3k.

lol well I can't continue unless I do
@ibcalm19
It's a "1on1" school so I was behind the wheel 20 of those 20 hours. Unfortunately I was following hand signals from a guy in his car and getting yelled at for attempting what I had learned online or attempting to do things from my gut. My instructor swore and threw his phone down the last time i got out of my truck and walked up to his car to ask him a question. At the main campus they're ####ing asking me if my instructor taught me anything at all... yeah, he taught me to stick up for myself and fight for my education or I'll be spending another 2800 and I'll still fail
My nice side: He is somewhat of a good guy, and he got me to where I am, but I think i would really benefit from a more verbally helpful teacher.Last edited: Apr 5, 2017
SHOJim Thanks this. -
Are you saying the instructor sits in a car and is not actively giving one on one instruction?
One on one instruction should be very up close and personal.x1Heavy Thanks this. -

Did you say this is one on one training? -
Yes it may be haha.
So they ####ed me. Yup.
Idk. My instructor mumbles a lot. He says things like "use both of your pullups, that's how you're gonna pass" lol where-as, in the 3 days I've been at the main campus they're teaching me how to finesse the trailer into the lane without using a pull up. Idk. I do feel angry at the instruction I've received.
But, it is also my fault, for not speaking up... About my concerns. I just wish I could have compared my the satellite location instruction to the main campus instruction a long time ago, so I'd know what was happening. I was being told I was doing fine. -
Remember you are the paying customer they work for you.
Don't let them slack or intimidate you.Crude Truckin' Thanks this. -
