I did not see exactly where you live, but in my experience, Flatbed mostly does not deliver on sat or sun, since most loads go to construction sites, or development sites, or to steel mills etc... and they are not open on the weekends. Got a buddy that works for the T.M.C, or as I call it the Trucking Marine Corp, although he is in the right lane gang, " Still to this day do not know how they can respectably turn back a Peterbilt like that. Truly is a shame, but he is in nice equipment, and gets home every weekend, or at least guaranteed 48 out of 52. I live in Charlotte NC, and here if you want to be home more, running containers from inland off of C.S.X trains to the ports, about a 350-400 mile run there offload, and either pick up or deadhead back. Morgan is the company that is most efficient in this, and actually sticks to there word. Have heard nothing but good things from there drivers. You need to look into containers, or flatbed if you want to get home, loaded, and unloaded faster ( with flatbed), and see your family more. Just in my experience. As an owner operator, you know that truck is your lively hood, and your a small business owner, just look into hiring a driver, preferably someone you know. I know that might sound like a bad Idea, but I drive for a guy I met at a company I work for. I do OTR, but I am home most weekends with the option to stay out and make extra money, if the freight is available, or if my buddy is struggling making payments, and needs my help. It has really worked out, I know I just drive for him, but we are more like partners, helping him get off the ground, and him being able to concentrate on his company rather that worry about someone he does not know tearing up his truck. Its an older girl, 1993 Western Star, but it has a 15 speed, with deep reduction, and a 515 Detroit in it, with enough torque to about snatch a king pin off a trailer. So, going from a rolling road hazard at 66, in a governed truck, to a pulling machine, with a boss I like, was well worth the change. Like I said bro, just look at your options, see what works for you, and just try something. something will pan out. You will see. Have some faith, not all companies are full so Shiznit, some actually do what they say. He has his own authority, so if the company we are leased on with cannot find a profitable load for the truck, going where we want or need it to be, and it has been 8 hours since the time I was empty we have a clause in our contract that states we can broker our own loads, and they just have to work with us. So like I said look around and see what you can find, and do not limit your potential, or earnings because of a woman, my daddy always said anything that bleeds for a week and does not die, cannot be good.
I'm going to give some advice and then I'm going to ask for some
