My apologies...maybe I wasn't very clear or I worded that worng. I understand that it is lingo for DX and such, (although I personally find the lingo annoying) When I referred to being "childish" I was talking about the ppl that get on 19 and talk over EVERYONE on the road, knowing full well that others are talking, asking for directions, etc. I was recently in NYC and could not figure out how to get out of the area. (even with GPS) Low bridges in every direction...but I got in, so there must be a way out! Although ppl were trying to help me out, they couldn't really help because of the idiot that wouldn't stop talking to the other moron in Jersey City. All the while telling me and other drivers that he is "shutting us down" and "cutting our lips off so give it up". For the most part, all they were doing was calling out their sign, saying "morning time", and telling everyone they "just got down" and "checking the mail".
Why???????????? Why do that to drivers??? People trying to work!!??!! I don't get it! And I think you have to admit...doing that to drivers is pretty freakin childish!

Yep signal corps.. Because of a mismatch in mos I ended up the chief operator of the net control MARS station in Germany. That got my blood into amateur radio. It was fun trying to talk to people with one of the earliest N calls (1979). People didn't believe I really had a license.. I almost thought i was going to have to show everyone my license to get them to talk to me.. :biggrin_2554:

No problem. Yeah that is very childish. Especially if they knew fully well of what they were doing yet didn't care. It's obvious they were getting a rise out of keeping you from talking...similar to the clowns on Craigslist who flag down posts all day every day.

I keep a base station in my garage tuned to 19 for ##### and grins until I can sell off my base station. I'm in Missouri, the band was quiet this morning....until someone from Michigan keys up twice, breaks the squelch and says something, then a minute later keys back up and starts talking about "Yeah dis s'pposed to be da truckers channel but it ain't da truckers channel no mo". Mind you this sounded like/was probably one of the many you hear on channel 6 with their 10 k + watts of power. So yeah i can understand your frustration. Crap like that is one of the several reasons why I'm getting out of CB.

    Longshot34 Thanks this.

Really? That's good to know. I have never transmitted on a ham band that I know of, and would not purposely do so. Since you are always pointing out the "FCC rules" to everybody, all the time, I figured it bothered you a great deal.:mconfused:
