Not a driver yet. I don't have my CDL yet, but am considering going for one when state grants for CDL training open up in April 2024. So I started calling around first to see my options.
In my zip code (96096), Schneider recruiting said that they're not hiring in my area. I keep hearing about a "driver shortage" (which is really a pay shortage), but to be told they're not hiring in my area, it makes no sense.
Why Schneider? First, I'll have no experience, and second, I've heard over and over that they're big on safety.
I'm looking at options for getting into trucking - Why is Schneider not hiring in my area?

I don't know if the cdl school is still open in Missoula, Montana. You can call and ask about that. If the school is still in operation, it's free to you with a one year contract to drive for Ashley.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
Hi, I am also planning on going to CDL school. From what I am seeing, it's the schools/training institutes and whatnot that apply for the grant? Are us wannabes able to apply for this grant too? It just looks like these schools are getting money if they apply so that they can make the program safer and whatnot.
Just curious, are we able to apply for this? Sorry if this kind of derails the post but I have a question I want to try and get an answer too lolFlat Earth Trucker and Chinatown Thank this. -
