What are the companies who have APU's on their trucks and what does a APU do as far as running microwaves ect. . .
-
All companies are different. Schneider National doesn't allow inverters large enough for a microwave. In fact, only drivers with sleep apnea have inverters installed in their trucks. Reminds me of company I used to work for 25 years ago where only smokers were allowed breaks.Bigowl Thanks this.

Just depends on the company. I know when I asked at Schneider they don't allow anything larger than what will plug into a 12V plug (iirc). My current company, you bring them the inverter, they'll install it, remove the cabinets you want removed (to make room for a 'fridge), and help you with securing the stuff you want to install.
I'm sure most companies are somewhere in between. -
Who do you work for driver if you don't mind me asking? It seems like a perrty good company.
-
Sounds like you work for a good company. You're right about the 12V outlet. There's also a max wattage for the inverter at SNI. I think it's 180W.
-
So, did the shop in Missoula put your inverter in for you? Looking forward to when I get out of training as to how I want to do "my" truck....

Henderson, Salem, Il. I'm pretty sure all of their trucks have them. As far as microwaves...no problem with an APU.
