its a start! They can do better once we are down there lol my sister in law is Italian and my husband and his brother's father was Mexican. I remember my brother in law telling me of a time he was stuck in California and was afraid to walk to the gas station for food, he said there were the black gangs on one side and the mexican gangs on the other and he was afraid to give one of them the wrong look and get shot. Thats coming from someone who is half mexican lol I guess that is my worry.
My kids are blonde hair blue eyed little girls. Im not in anyway saying that multicultural would offend me but my friends exact words were "I go to church with a woman who's daughter is down there in that area and she had to homeschool her kid because she was the only white kid in the whole class and she was picked on everyday" <------that would most definitely be a concern.
Honestly I think if we hate it, wait until the school year is up because I dont want to switch her 2x in one year, and then they will have some experience under their belts and can transfer back up this way.
Thanks to all of you for the leads, poor guys have a huge list of companies for when they get off work tonight LOL
IM READY TO GOOOO!!! Hubby......not so much

Your gonna have to be patient. The list you have is mostly service companies which is good considering their ages and most of them will take a few weeks to a month to get on with. Hauling anything is for old men. Get into a service company if you can. The pay is great and the benefits are usually awesome. I'm in midland now. Just started with one of the companies on your list. I have a couple buddy's that have been here a few months and they bring home about 8k a month on average. Housing is expensive but you'll be able to afford it. Everything else is in line with the rest of tx as far as cost goes.
If your really serious send those guys down to ok to the archer yard. It's not the best company but they have work and need hands really bad. Their paychecks will be 2400-2800 take home every two weeks on average and family health insurance is about 180 a month. They could get them on in a week or maybe two. -
hey, 2400 would still be a huge improvement. Husband took this state job hoping to get hired on full time for the benefits, he brings home 600 every 2 weeks. Its just not cutting it. We aren't exactly picky on where we go, OK would be fine with me. I will for sure have them check into that.
The rush is just that we sold a vehicle and have that money in hand to move on, but if we stay here I will have to put that into the bills and groceries. I would like to be able to put it into moving with the hopes of not being in the same boat next month, only with no truck to sale. We have enough pooled together to move and pay deposit and all but not to live on for very long. Their point is that if we go down there, they are leaving a job that is at least keeping food in our mouths and the roof over our heads, go down there and then they cant find a job anywhere then oh crap were screwed, no money to move back, no money to pay bills. My point is that there has to be work SOMEWHERE, even if we take something temporary. I will have to keep you guys updated on what we ultimately decide to do. -
Me is this frac work
-
Ya they frac. I was only there a month. It will put food on the table but it wasn't enough for me and they wanted me to move my family up there.
-
If your husband wants to get on with them you should call the office. Tell them your moving to the area soon and looking for work. Ask if they can email you an app. Send it back and be emphatic that your planning on moving to the area. They won't mess with you if they don't think your serious. Housing around there is much cheaper than west tx so it wouldn't be hard to make the move. They move through the background and other stuff faster than any company I've seen so it could be possible to be working there in two to three weeks.
-
How long would you recommend staying there until moving on too something. Better
-
Ok I now understand your fear. Don't worry you'll most certainly find work and you will make more $$$$$
-
@me 2-3 weeks I think we could handle, anything in excess would be pushing it. I will definitely pass the info to the guys
One of our concerns is that the brother has only had a year of driving experience. Do you think that would be an issue?
