I pulled in to the truckstop in Ruther Glen Va today. It used to be a Petro, but had gone independent with a handful of other locations, I knew that. Pulled up to the pumps to fuel, and they say Flying J! So I used my fuelcard and Flying J points card which it took and accepted. Went inside to get my receipt and no points on it, so I asked. They said the system would only take the Pilot points card, which I gave them and they processed for me, but how they heck was I supposed to guess that?
I'm so confused....

The Flying J in Knoxville wont take frequent fueler cards anymore they issue you
a new pilot card thats only good at the Knoxville J. Whats up with that? -
Same with the one south of St. Augistine, Florida. Also Bakersfield, Ca. You might as well just call them Pilots now. Yeesh.

yes I knew about the buyout, and have posted and commented on it in other threads, but this was this 1st time I had been to any location that said Flying J but that did not accept the J point card.

The Pilot website shows that old Petro as a "Pilot Dealer". Doesn't say anything about Flying J.

I did fuel at a Flying J in Michigan a few days ago, and it took my Flying J card no problem. -
Pilot has been very deliberate in changing things. We have a sports bar at the Flying J here in Fargo the people that work there are concerned.
-
Well here is the official news that just came out today, but they don't take the Flying J card yet.

So, the Petro Stopping Center that used to be there is now run by Highway Service Ventures and is now part of the Flying Peelot system. Right across the street there has been for years a Pilot and to the west, across I 95 there has been for years a Flying J. Sounds like most of I 95, Exit 104 in Carmel Church / Ruther Glen, VA will now be Flying Peelot territory since it will have three facilities in the Flying Peelot group.
I see that HSV are now in Elkton, MD; which I supposed they took over that former Petro Stopping Center. Also, I did see a mention of Carnesville, GA ... did Highway Service Ventures take over the abandoned Flying J there or was there an old Petro Stopping Center nearby? I think it could have been one or the other but not both situations.
